Gone But not Forgotten: Michaela Mayrhofer

It was almost two months ago, when the European all-round industry was shocked by a post on Facebook: The employees of the Westernsaddlery California Ranch bid farewell to their boss, Michaela Mayrhofer. Quickly, the comments started to drop. Nearly 400 people offered commiserations, proof of how much Michi – as she was called by most – will leave an empty spot in this industry.

Michaela Mayrhofer was not only the boss at CR but also an allround exhibitor with her gelding Luigi Got The Blues. She loved animals and plants, having a huge collection of cacti at home. As a young woman, she started her own training barn and where she met Toni Mayrhofer and fell in love with him. They got married in 2006. Together, they build up the Westernsaddlery California Ranch that is known today for its innovative and beautiful saddles. National and international champions trust in CR.

Michi was the heart and soul of the company and will be greatly missed by her staff – she will always be remembered for her laughter and fun personality and especially for the way she told funny stories from her life. Michi will continue to live on and be a part of the European allround industry not only through the countless saddles and tack she created, but also in the memories of her family and many, many friends. Heaven has gained a great artist, talented rider and exceptional person.
