Winner of the Jackpot Ranch Riding: Jasmin Andersdotter & Pipers Little Step

TSL: Jasmin, can you tell a little bit more about the horse you have won the Jackpot Ranch Riding with?

Jasmin Andersdotter (JA): Pipers Little Step is an 11-year-old gelding by Wimpys Little Step out of a Haidas Little Pep daughter, he is owned by Daniel Remmert. I am showing him since January of this year and it is his first Ranch Riding season. During the week at the Ride of America, Piper exceeded all my expectations. After becoming Reserve Champion in the Senior Reining with a score of 146,5, we tried the go-round of the 2000 Euro added Großwinkelmann Ranch Riding and won the go-round with a score of 151,5. During the gala night he made the impossible possible and we won the final of the class with a score of 152.

TSL: You are showing a lot in the Ranch Riding – what do you like about the event?

JA: Ranch Riding is an event in which the horse has to be very trainable and athletic. The competition in this event has increased a lot during the past years. You have to be able to perform side pass, many transitions and even manage some obstacles – it is this kind of diversity that I love about Ranch Riding.

TSL: You have little child – how do you manage taking care of the baby and being at a show?

JA: All I can say is: horse show family. Without the support of the whole family and especially that of my boyfriend Lars, I could not do it. But since we are all horse show lovers, our little boy is with us at the show as often as possible.

TSL: What is it that you like about the Ride of America?

JA: This was my third year at the RoA and it is the show highlight in this area. The gala night is very special – for participants and visitors.

TSL: Is there anything you want to say to encourage other riders?

JA: Piper and I started doing Ranch Riding four months ago and had a score of 63 in our very first class. -1 on the extended trot, -1 on the lope – I was thinking about quitting the event, because it was just not the kind of class he liked. But I continued trying. Four months later, we are qualified for the German Open and always end up having a score of 70 or higher in this class. It is now easier for him to listen to me and follow my lead. I want to show other people that with a healthy kind of ambition and a lot of patience, anything is possible – the show must go on!

TSL: Jasmin, kannst Du unseren Lesern erst einmal ein wenig von Deinem Pferd erzählen?

Jasmin Andersdotter (JA): Pipers Little Step ist ein elfjähriger Wallach von Wimpys Little Step aus einer Haidas Little Pep Tochter und ist im Besitz von Daniel Remmert. Seit Januar diesen Jahres ist er unter mir auf Turnieren zu sehen und es ist seine erste Ranch Riding Saison. Die Woche auf dem Ride of America übertraf all unsere Erwartungen. Nachdem er am Mittwoch bereits in der Senior Reining mit einem Score von 146,5 Reserve Champion wurde, wagten wir uns am Freitagnachmittag in den Vorlauf der 2000 Euro Großwinkelmann Ranch Riding. Wir zogen mit einem Score von 151,5 als Sieger des Vorlaufs in das Finale am Samstag ein. In der Gala Nacht machte er das Unmögliche möglich und wir gewannen diese Klasse mit einem Score von 152.

TSL: Du startest viel in der Ranch Riding – was gefällt Dir an der Disziplin?

JA: Ranch Riding ist für mich eine Disziplin, in der ein Pferd mittlerweile viel Rittigkeit und Athletik zeigen muss. Die Ansprüche in dieser Klasse sind über die Jahre enorm gestiegen. Seitengänge, viele Übergänge und auch Trailelemente erwarten einen bei einer Ranch Riding Pattern und genau diese Abwechslung bereitet mir unheimlich viel Spaß.

TSL: Du hast ja auch ein sehr kleines Kind – wie klappt das mit Baby und Showen?

JA: Dazu kann ich nur sagen: Horse Show Family, denn ohne die Unterstützung der ganzen Familie und vor allem von meinem Freund Lars wäre das alles nicht so leicht unter einen Hut zu bekommen. Da wir alle aber im Turnierleben Zuhause sind, ist unser Kleiner so oft wie es nur geht mit dabei.

TSL: Was gefällt Dir denn am Ride of America?

JA: Das war nun mein drittes Jahr auf dem Ride of America und für mich ist es das „Turnierhighlight“ in der Region. Vor allem die Gala Nacht ist etwas Besonderes für alle Teilnehmer und Zuschauer!

TSL: Gibt es etwas, das Du anderen Reitern mitgeben möchtest?

JA: Vor vier Monaten starteten „Piper“ und ich unsere erste gemeinsame Ranch Riding und kamen mit einem 63er Score aus dieser Prüfung. -1 auf den extended Jog, -1 auf den Galopp…ich spielte schon mit dem Gedanken, dass diese Prüfung vielleicht einfach nicht sein Ding ist, aber ich versuchte es wieder und wieder. Vier Monate später haben wir in dieser Disziplin unsere Qualifikation für die Deutsche Meisterschaft und kommen regelmäßig mit einem Score über 70 aus dieser Prüfung. Es fällt ihm immer leichter, mir zuzuhören und sich auf mich einzulassen. Damit möchte ich auch anderen zeigen, dass mit einem gesunden Ehrgeiz und einer großen Packung Geduld alles möglich ist – the Show must go on.
